In Islamabad, US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar meets with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Arif Alvi. During her four-day visit to Pakistan from April 20-24, Congresswoman Ms Omar will meet with members of Pakistan’s political and economic leadership, as well as visit Lahore and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to gain a deeper understanding of Pakistan’s culture, social, political, and economic potential, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
Eventually, the premier hopes, the ties between Pakistan’s Parliament and the US Congress will deepen and strengthen.
He expressed Pakistan’s desire to further deepen bilateral cooperation between the United States and Pakistan based on mutual trust, respect, and equality.
He emphasized that a constructive engagement between the two countries could contribute to regional peace, security, and development.
There was a discussion of regional issues and bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States. The prime minister stated that the United States was Pakistan’s largest trading partner and needed to further enhance the countries’ cooperation, especially in trade and investment.
Pakistan deeply values the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to national development and growth, adding that Islamabad has lauded its efforts in strengthening Pakistan-US ties.

The prime minister expressed concern over the human rights situation in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, stressing the importance of finding a peaceful solution to the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, enabling the region to develop economically and promote social development.
In response, the congresswoman thanked the prime minister and hoped that her visit to Pakistan would help strengthen ties between Pakistan and Congress.

An earlier meeting between the visiting US Congresswoman Ilhan and President Arif Alvi took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The Pakistani President has expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding relationship with the US. And hoped their constructive engagements would benefit the region.
For the mutual benefit of the two countries, he stressed the need for improving bilateral relations in various fields.
He informed the dignitary about the atrocities committed by the government of PM Modi against minorities in India, particularly Muslims.
According to him, India committed human rights violations against Muslims and engaged in a genocide against them.
In addition, he highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting peace in the region and its sacrifices in the war on terror.
He urged US businessmen to invest in IT, saying it is the most critical sector for investment.
According to Omar, the bilateral relationship between the two countries is ripe for improvement. Her appreciation extends to Pakistan’s contributions to the UN resolution against Islamophobia.

During her visit to Islamabad, the Muslim congresswoman also met with former prime minister Imran Khan.
Moreover, Shireen Mazari shared a picture of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Ilhan Omar on her Twitter account. Adding that matters of mutual interest, Islamophobia, and other issues were discussed in the meeting.
“Ilhan praised Imran Khan for his position and worked against Islamophobia worldwide,” she wrote.
The Prime Minister appreciated her principled and courageous stance on issues, she said on occasion.
