During a meeting held by the Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the announcement was made. As a result of the decision, train fares will be determined phase-wise along with free travel facilities for the elderly and people with special needs. Additionally, it was decided that concessionary tickets would be offered to students and women at the meeting.
The Punjab government has announced that passengers will be able to take advantage of discounts on Orange Line Train fares. A number of issues related to the outsourcing of the contract of Lahore Waste Management Company have also been entrusted to the advisory committee.
Earlier this month, Sindh’s Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced that 49 buses had arrived at the Port of Karachi to be used for the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) Service.
The Orange Line Metro Train will offer a discount package for women and students for the fare of its trains. During a meeting in Lahore, Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi stated that it has been decided in principle to set the fare for the Orange Line Metro Train in a stage-by-stage manner,”.
Orange line to operate on solar energy
There has been a formation of an advisory committee for the review of the conversion of Orange Line Metro Trains to solar energy. The Orange Line Metro Train stations will be equipped with solar systems that will generate energy for the trains,” he explained.
A pilot project for electric buses will be started in Lahore as part of the first phase of the project. It has been announced that modern eco-friendly buses will offer the best travel facilities to the public.
“An advisory committee has been entrusted with LWMC‘s outsourcing contract,” he said.
The meeting was attended by the former chairman of Planning and Development Salman Ghani, the former principal secretary to GM Sikandar, the CEO of Daewoo, and senior officers from departments involved.
