According to unconfirmed sources, PSL 8 opening ceremony is scheduled in Karachi Stadium. Ramiz Raja wanted it to be held in Multan but new PCB Chairman Najam Sethi want things a little different. Bugti Stadium Quetta will also witness league matches in the new edition of PSL.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 will start from Karachi instead of Multan. According to sources, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s management committee is not convinced about hosting the opening ceremony and first match in Multan. Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena (NBCA) is most likely to host PSL 8’s opener on February 13. Meanwhile, Multan will only get to host round-stage matches.

The final PSL 8 schedule will be released following the end of the home ODI series against New Zealand. Earlier, Multan was scheduled to hold its first-ever PSL opening ceremony. Multan, along with Karachi, was set to host the first phase of the league. PSL 8 will also take place in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Furthermore, the management committee received a thorough information on the PSL 8 last month and wished to include Quetta as the fifth destination for the PCB’s annual showcase event’s eighth season.
The Committee decided that PCB would work closely with the local administration to upgrade and renovate Bugti Stadium. To make sure it was ready to host the PSL 8 matches. Separate discussions would also take place between PCB security experts and local authorities. To ensure the safety and security of all participants, officials, and spectators.
“I am delighted that seven years after launching the HBL Pakistan Super League. I am today announcing our commitment to add Bugti Stadium in Quetta as the fifth venue for our marquee event. Bugti Stadium is the home ground of Quetta Gladiators. We still remember the incredible scenes when the Gladiators visited the city after winning the 2019 tournament,” said committee chairman Najam Sethi.
