After a prolonged rift in the party. The head of PML-Q is sacked with the consent of all members. Ch Shujaat Hussain is a minus from all the recent scenarios. Meanwhile, Ch Wajahat will be the new head of the party.
After the emergence of apparent differences within the party ranks. The Pakistan Muslim League–Quaid (PML-Q) general council on Thursday removed Ch Shujaat Hussain as the party chief.
The decision was made during a consultative meeting of the party held at the Pakistan Muslim League House situated at Davis Road in Lahore. Brother of Shujaat, Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, has been given the command of the PML-Q. The meeting also removed Shujaat’s close aide, Tariq Bashir Cheema, and selected Kamil Ali Agha as the central secretary-general of the party.
The development comes days after Shujaat had suspended the basic membership of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi. For his statement about a possible merger with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The situation was aggravated during last year’s Punjab chief minister election as Shujaat supported the candidature of PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz instead of Pervaiz. While the Punjab former chief minister on the advice of his son, Moonis, decided to go with the PTI.

The participants of the general council elected Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Shujaat’s brother. As the new party president and Kamil Ali Aghan as the central secretary general. Further, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was elected uncontested as president of PML-Q Punjab at the meeting. Party officials and leaders from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh participated in the meeting. As well as PML-Q officials from Azaad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
For his part, federal minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain. Who is also the son of Shujaat said that his father could not be removed from the party’s top post. And the ones trying to remove him were only doing so for publicity.
“People were called in Lahore’s meeting and they were asked to sign on blank papers,” Hussain said, hinting that the members did not willingly sign on the papers for Shujaat’s dismissal.

Hussain added that PTI Chairman Khan must have told Elahi to ensure that he holds the reins of the party, but also mentioned that the move was against the law and Shujaat is still the president.
