Sunita Marshall is a talented artist while Nadir Ali is a hardworking youtuber who came a long way. In a recent interview , he asked insensitive religious questions to the actress. Although actress kept his calm but Ali is getting backlash from whole social media.
Nadir Ali started his career as a prankster but now he is famous for is podcasts on YouTube. He has interviewed many celebrities as well as politicians and sportsmen and many of his shows created a lot of controversy. Nadir asks very blunt questions and many a times not sensitive enough about the things that he is talking about. Something similar happened when he interviewed Sunita Marshall recently and asked her point blank about her religion.
The interview, which could have been fun and light, turned out to be insensitive as the host started questioning Sunita about her faith and whether she will convert to Islam since she has been married to actor Hassan Ahmed.
The podcast was quite hard and painful to watch as it was surprising to see Ali asking Sunita: “When will you convert to Islam?” It does not just end here, the host decided to end the conversation by saying: “Allah hidayat day (May Allah gives you guidance)” — which was apparently very derogatory.
Being an interviewer, one should not ask guests about their faith and religious choices on a show as this matter is not only personal but extremely sensitive as well. However, Sunita handled the situation calmly and responded to Ali’s questioning — gracefully.
Backlash and actress to the rescue
Notable figures such as Anoushey Ashraf, Ghana Ali, Mathira, and Saba Faisal voiced their support for Sunita Marshall, condemning Nadir Ali’s repeated instances of uncomfortable interviews. Actress Nadia Afgan even took to social media to express her pride in Marshall’s graceful response, while criticizing Nadir Ali for his questionable approach.
The YouTuber has been facing severe backlash for asking a question related to the faith of the model who belongs to the minority Christian community of the country.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Sunita thanked social media users for supporting her but at the same time requested them “to kindly not harass the interviewer anymore”.
“Also I would ask the interviewing fraternity not to ask such personal questions again in the future,” she added.
