Layers Cake rose to fame in a short time. But first lizard and now a glove found out in the cake. Is this the negligence of the bakery or a well-executed conspiracy?
Layers Bakeshop is a relatively new name in the world of bakeries and confectionaries. Started from Lahore now they are operationing in various cities of Punjab and Islamabad. Recently in an unfortunate incident, a man found a dead lizard in his cake. This incident happened in Faisalabad, he made a TikTok video and uploaded on his social media handles.
After the video, there were two sets of people on social media. Half of them are in favor of closing the bakery, put a ban or sue them after this horrendous act. However, the other half is calling it the poorly executed plan by the rivals.
People were still talking about this that another incident of a similar kind happened in Islamabad. This time they found a glove inside the cake. After this, a lot of people were convinced that it’s a planted ruse and start making memes out of it.
Ken Doll aka Adnan Zafar argued that this was just a dirty move by some competitors. He based this explanation on the fact that a lizard had fallen into the cake or the batter. After being baked at such high temperatures as 250 degrees centigrade, it would not look the way it did. According to him, it was still “soft” and “fresh” indicating that it had been put in afterward or else it would’ve looked “cooked”.
He also claimed that he had been working in the hospitality industry for the last 11 years. Moreover, that he was talking logically and factually which further strengthened the argument of the other people who agreed.
Bakery’s reaction
The bakery has denied these “false allegations”. They said in an Instagram post that it has been “subject to baseless allegations that aim to tarnish our hard-earned reputation”.
“We take immense pride in the quality and hygiene of our products. Our factory adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness. It is technically impossible for foreign objects, such as the alleged lizard, to be found in our baked goods,” read a statement posted on Instagram.
“We reserve the right to take legal action against those involved in defamation of our brand according to the Cybercrime Laws of Pakistan. Your trust means the world to us, and we want to reassure you that we are fully committed to delivering the best products possible.” Layers said
Moreover, the statement concluded by thanking the people who had shown “trust” in their brand.
