Gigi Hadid’s representative has seemingly confirmed that the model was arrested for possession of marijuana. While holidaying in the Cayman Islands, adding that the drugs were purchased legally “for medical use”.
Supermodel Gigi Hadid was arrested on a charge of marijuana possession. While on vacation in the Cayman Islands last week, her representatives confirmed Tuesday. Hadid and her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy were stopped by customs officers after arriving in the islands by private jet on July 10, according to a local report from the Cayman Marl Road.
“During the search of their luggage, ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja were found in the luggage of both passengers,” according to the report. “The quantities were relatively small and were seemingly for personal consumption.”
The duo were taken to the Prisoner Detention Centre. After going through the necessary procedures, both women were released on bail. On July 12, they pleaded guilty in court and were fined 1,000 dollars, followed which the duo were released. Moreover, according to sources, there is no conviction on Gigi’s record.
According to a spokesperson representing Hadid. It was clarified that the marijuana found in her possession was legally obtained in New York. She had a valid “medical license” for it. In a statement disclosed to the P.A. news agency, she emphasized that medical use of marijuana has been permitted in Grand Cayman since 2017. The spokesperson further affirmed that her record is clean. And she had a wonderful time during the rest of her stay on the island.
Gigi, who co-hosts Netflix competition show Next In Fashion. She shared series of pictures to her Instagram on Tuesday from her fun-filled moments with pals at a beach, captioning: “All’s well that ends well”.
