It is possible that the India vs. Pakistan match could be called off again. The weather forecast for Colombo on September 11 is not good, with a 60% chance of rain. If the rain continues, it is unlikely that the match will be able to be played. However, both teams will get one point each with no result in the match.
For the second time in a row, rain interrupted the India vs. Pakistan match on Sunday at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium. The heavy rains caused the high-stakes game between India and Pakistan to be postponed to a reserve day after only 24.1 overs were played in the Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2023.
Today, on September 11, the rival teams will pick up where they left off in their rain-affected Asia Cup showdown. India’s score is 147-2 from 24.1 overs. The reserve day was scheduled so both teams could have a full 50 overs for each inning if the weather allowed.
Earlier, the first-round day-night match between India and Pakistan was rained entirely out after India finished their batting with a score of 266 in the 49th over. India will now play for three consecutive days. Including another Super Four match against Sri Lanka scheduled for tomorrow, September 12.

If today’s match also gets canceled due to rain, both India and Pakistan will receive one point each. Consequently, Pakistan will rise to the top of the Super Four standings with three points, having already won against Bangladesh. Sri Lanka has also secured a victory against Bangladesh. Earning them two points makes it tough for Bangladesh to stay in the competition.
In such a scenario, India’s next two matches against Sri Lanka (on September 12) and Bangladesh (on September 15) become crucial. India would need to win both matches to reach a total of five points.
If India loses even one of these matches or if two more matches get washed out due to rain. Their total points would drop to just three. This would jeopardize India’s chances of qualifying for the final. Whether India qualifies will depend on how the points table shapes up for the other teams, taking into account their results, rain interruptions, and net run rate.
The weather has been a significant topic of discussion throughout the Sri Lanka leg of the Asia Cup. However, rain is expected in the Sri Lankan capital for the entire tournament.
