Cricketer Ahmad Shehzad has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. He cites disappointment over being overlooked by all franchises in the draft. However, He hints at knowing the specific reasons behind his exclusion, promising to reveal them soon.
Pakistani cricketer Ahmad Shehzad has decided to leave the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after not being chosen by any of the six teams during the recent player draft. Shahzad expressed his disappointment, believing that it was a deliberate attempt to exclude him from the T20 tournament.
The player draft for the 2024 PSL edition happened in Lahore a few days ago. The six teams, including Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators, Lahore Qalandars, and Islamabad United, picked their players in various categories such as “Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging, and Supplementary.”
Unfortunately, Shahzad was not selected by any team. Even though he had recently performed well for the Lahore Region Whites team in the National T20 Cup.
The cricketer shared his frustration on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Shahzad said, “Another PSL draft goes by and same old story – didn’t get picked. God knows why!”
He mentioned that he had consistently given his best in the domestic circuit and performed reasonably well in the National T20 Cup. Shahzad questioned why he was excluded when other players with inferior stats were chosen.
Ahmad Shehzad revealed that he knew the reasons for his exclusion and termed it a “pre-planned” move. He decided to part ways with the league for his self-respect. He emphasizes that he has never played for money and never will.
Despite receiving offers to play in various leagues, Shahzad chose to represent Pakistan. He expressed gratitude to Allah for always upholding his moral responsibilities and stated that he would continue doing so, even if it meant paying a small price for his honesty and dedication.
Shahzad has previously played for Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans in the PSL, with his most recent appearance in the league being in 2020.
