Pakistan and Turkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to a robust security partnership, concluding the 18th edition of their High-Level Military Dialogue Group on a decisive note. Held in Rawalpindi from February 13th to 16th, the dialogue served as a platform to explore avenues for deeper collaboration in diverse defense and security realms.
In a recent meeting held in Rawalpindi, Pakistan and Turkiye reinforced their commitment to bolstering their defense and security cooperation. The 18th edition of their High-Level Military Dialogue Group concluded on Friday, February 16th, with both nations affirming their dedication to enhancing bilateral defense ties.
The discussions, which took place at the Ministry of Defence in Rawalpindi from February 13th to 16th, covered various aspects of defense cooperation. These included training exercises, exchange programs, and collaboration on the production of military equipment. The delegates also reviewed the progress made from decisions taken during the previous meeting in Turkey.
The Pakistani delegation, led by Defence Secretary retired Lt Gen Hamooduz Zaman Khan, engaged in talks with their Turkish counterparts, headed by Gen Irfan Ozsert, the deputy chief of General Staff. The meeting focused on crucial issues such as security challenges, counter-terrorism efforts, and the current regional and geopolitical landscape.
Both delegations expressed satisfaction with the ongoing momentum of defense cooperation and agreed to further strengthen their partnership. A statement from the ministry highlighted the mutual desire to enhance collaboration in efforts aimed at maintaining peace, enhance Security Ties and security in the region.
The groundwork for the detailed discussions was laid during a preliminary meeting between Gen Ozsert and Mr. Khan. Officials emphasized that this year’s dialogue not only underscored the strong military and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkey but also set the stage for future cooperation initiatives.
