Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif says the province will launch an air ambulance service soon. Chairing a meeting of the Air Ambulance Project in Lahore today, she allowed the use of her helicopter for emergency patient transfers. She also announced the initiation of the Rescue 1122 service on the motorway.
Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the forthcoming launch of an air ambulance service in the province, aiming to enhance medical assistance across Punjab. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by the chief minister in Lahore, focusing on the Air Ambulance Project.
Details regarding the air ambulance service are still emerging. However, reports suggest plans to deploy two aircraft, strategically stationed in the north (Rawalpindi/Mianwali) and south (Multan/Bahawalnagar) of the province, to ensure swift response across Punjab. These aircraft will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities and staffed by qualified paramedics and rescuers.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz sanctioned the use of a helicopter affiliated with her office to facilitate the urgent transfer of patients. This move aims to strengthen emergency medical response, particularly in remote areas where accessibility to hospitals is challenging.
Accompanying the Chief Minister were senior provincial figures including Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, advisor Pervaiz Rashid, and ministers overseeing healthcare and medical education. The meeting also included key officials such as the chief secretary, chairman of Planning and Development, finance secretary, Dr. Adnan, and emergency department secretary.
Highlighting the importance of timely patient transportation to hospitals, especially in regions with limited accessibility, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz referenced a recent incident involving a cardiac patient’s difficulties at Sargodha Hospital. This underscores the pressing need for efficient emergency medical services in such areas.
Improved Rescue 1122
In addition to the air ambulance service, the Chief Minister announced plans to introduce Rescue 1122 service on motorways, further expanding emergency response capabilities across Punjab.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in her inaugural speech after assuming office, pledged a ‘new era’ for Punjab, outlining ambitious development goals for the province over the next five years. These goals include significant improvements in healthcare, education, employment, and housing opportunities for the people of Punjab.
Overall, these plans aim to get people the medical attention they need faster, wherever they are in Punjab. This is great news for everyone in the province!
