Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and Space X, shared an exciting update about his company’s Neuralink’s brain-computer chip technology. According to Musk, Neuralink’s latest innovation has the potential to help blind monkeys see again. Speaking on the X platform, which was formerly known as Twitter, Musk revealed that Neuralink’s brain chip, called “Blindsight,” is making good progress in enabling blind monkeys to see.
Describing the capabilities of Blindsight, Musk compared its first resolution to “early Nintendo graphics.” But he is hopeful that, with more work, the technology could surpass normal human eyesight in the future. Musk also emphasized that using these devices has not resulted in any serious injuries or fatalities for any of the monkeys in the experiment.

Newest Creation from Neuralink
Blindsight is the newest creation from Neuralink, after their earlier innovation called Telepathy. Telepathy is a technology that enables users to control computers just by thinking. Earlier in the year, Musk shared that a patient who got a Neuralink brain implant was showing positive signs of recovery. The patient, who can’t move their legs or arms, demonstrated the ability to manipulate a computer mouse cursor just by thinking about it.
Neuralink’s advancements have received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA greenlighted the company’s first test in May of last year. In this test, they put 64 flexible threads into a specific area of the brain linked with movement. Because these threads are so delicate, a robot is implanted to perform the implantation process. After implantation process, these threads can record and send brain signals to a special app. This app interprets what the person wants to do with their movements.
The latest progress in Neuralink represents a significant step towards merging the capabilities of the human brain with advanced technology. Their initial focus is trying to help with medical issues like blindness and paralysis. But the long-term potential of Neuralink’s technology extends beyond healthcare. It might help boost human abilities and make our brains work even better.
