According to police reports, two unidentified gunmen entered Tamba’s residence in Lahore’s Islampura area and opened fire. Tamba sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The incident happened at his home in the Islampura area when two masked men barged in and shot him multiple times. Although the media initially reported his death, the police clarified that he was alive but in critical condition. Tamba’s brother explained that the attackers fled on a motorbike after the shooting. “Tamba was alone in his room and the unidentified men opened fire at him,” it said and added that he was “shifted to an ambulance for treatment.”
According to him, one of the suspects was 26 years old and another was 24 years old.
Sarabjit Singh, an Indian national, was convicted of espionage in Pakistan and sentenced to death in 1991. Singh was a convicted Indian spy. He was arrested on charges of carrying out four bombings in Faisalabad, Multan, and Lahore which killed 14 Pakistani citizens. Singh was later sentenced to death.
He died in 2013 after being attacked by fellow inmates. Tamba was one of the men accused of involvement in the attack, though he and another accused were ultimately acquitted by a court in 2018.
