Dubai has announced the building of the world’s largest airport terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport.
This ambitious project was approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. They are planning to build a passenger terminal with an impressive budget of Dh128 billion.
During his visit to the Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, Sheikh Mohammad reviewed the strategic plan and designs for the new terminal. It is expected to change the way the airport works. When it’s finished, the terminal will be able to welcome a huge 260 million passengers every year. This will make it the biggest airport terminal in the world.
The project got approval from the Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammad. It reflects Dubai’s strong dedication to innovation and progress in the aviation sector. Speaking about the huge project, he emphasized the Al Maktoum International Airport. He stated that Al Maktoum International Airport will be the biggest airport with the world’s largest capacity. It will able to handle up to 260 million passengers. It will be five times the size of the current Dubai International Airport and all flights will move there in the coming years.
Dubai’s Big Plan for Development
The visionary project fits well with Dubai’s big plan for development; as Sheikh Mohammad highlighted, “Dubai will be the world’s airport, its port, its urban hub, and its new global center.” Moreover, the construction of the terminal is expected to boost economic growth and create opportunities for both residents and businesses. He also highlighted the chance for more housing or top companies in logistics and air transport to come to Dubai.

With Sheikh Mohammed, important guests like Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, also visited. They looked at the master plan for the airport of the future, which covers a large area of 70 square kilometers. This plan outlines the airport’s ultimate capacity and strategic implementation plan.
Speaking about the project, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum emphasized the transformative impact of the new airport. He said the new airport will be more than five times bigger than Dubai International Airport. It will prepare the ground for the next 40 years of anticipated growth in Dubai’s aviation sector.
The project aims to revolutionize the aviation industry but also prioritizes sustainability and efficiency. Al Maktoum International Airport plans to use the latest technologies and state-of-the-art facilities. It will give passengers a great experience while mitigating environmental impact.
