Met Gala 2024 happen on the first Monday of May. This year’s theme was “Garden of Time” and celebrities did not disappoint with their looks. Alia Bhatt, Isha Ambani, Zendaya, Kim Kardashian, and many other celebrities shine in this star-studded charity event on the year.
The whole showbiz world keeps an eye on the most anticipated charity event of the year. Met Gala started in 1948 as a fundraiser for the newly established Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. With time it has become a much bigger charity event that elongates with art, fashion, and culture. With Vogue taking it over in the early 2000s, it just gets better and better. Met Gala 2024 is nothing but a luxurious event that occurs on the first Monday of May.
The theme of this year’s gala was “Garden of Time,” inspired by the J.G. Ballard short story of the same name. It tied into the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion”. With intriguing themes, celebrities did not disappoint with their amazingly designed outfits.
This year celebrities wore dresses made of the most unique materials. Some wore outfits made of sand, twigs, pillowcases, or even tablecloths. Most of the dresses were floral and justified the theme with mechanical, embroidered, or hand-drawn flowers all over the outfit.
This year’s co-chairs were a stylish bunch: Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny.
Best Dressed Celebs
Actress Greta Lee and singer Tyla made our list of the best dressed at the Met Gala. John Galliano, who dressed six guests, including actresses Zendaya and Kim Kardashian, and rapper Bad Bunny, was the real winner of the night. Alia Bhatt, Mindy Kaling, and Isha Ambani also raise the temperature with their haute couture. The ace designer Sabyasachi also made his debut on the red carpet this year.
In my opinion, the most unique dresses were worn by Lana Del Rey and Camila Cabello. Lana wore a unique twig-infused dress that was an Alexander McQueen piece from nearly two decades ago. The main part of her outfit was her headpiece which was made with natural hawthorn branches.
Camila wore a Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown, which reportedly featured 250,000 crystals and took more than 450 hours to make. Apart from the unique dress, she accessorized it with an ice brick with an infused rose in it. This ice purse was the most intriguing accessory in the whole event.
The 2024 Met Gala cemented its place as a cultural phenomenon. It was a dazzling display of fashion, a celebration of artistic expression, and a testament to the enduring power of the Costume Institute.
