Pakistan’s volleyball team won the championship title at the Central Asian Volleyball Championship! They defeated Turkmenistan 3-1 in the final match on Friday. Moreover, that’s quite an accomplishment! Pakistan remained undefeated throughout the entire tournament.
Pakistan’s volleyball team has emerged victorious in the Central Asian Volleyball Championship. The team defeated Turkmenistan in a thrilling final held at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Friday.
Pakistan showcased its strength by winning the first two sets 25-21 and 25-19. Though Turkmenistan fought back in the third set, winning it 25-20, Pakistan secured their victory by taking the fourth set 25-14. In addition, this win means Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning all six of their matches, with a total of 18 sets won and only 3 lost.
In the third-place match, Kyrgyzstan beat Sri Lanka 3-1. The closing ceremony saw Minister for Planning and Inter-Provincial Coordination, Ahsan Iqbal, as the chief guest. Moreover, he congratulated the Turkmenistan team for their strong performance and highlighted the friendly ties between the two nations.
“Sports build the best ambassadors and foster brotherhood and friendship,” he said. Ahsan Iqbal announced a cash prize of Rs 500,000 for the Pakistan team and revealed plans to revive departmental sports, ensuring job opportunities for the winning players. Moreover, he also outlined efforts to promote sports across the country and prepare for the 2028 Olympics, including the upcoming National Games in Karachi and the Quaid-e-Azam Games in Islamabad.
To support the athletes, the Minister promised top-notch coaches for training and sports reforms, such as providing allowances for players competing internationally.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Pakistan team for clinching the Central Asia Volleyball Championship, lauding their performance and teamwork. “Superb performance! Pakistan wins the Central Asia Volleyball Championship. Talent and teamwork at its best,” the prime minister remarked on his X handle.
Moreover, the title win was an icing on the cake for Pakistan who were hosting the five-team event after a long gap of 17 years. Apart from Pakistan and Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan also participated in the championship.
