Babar Azam Takes Legal Action Against Mubasher Luqman for False Accusations

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s national cricket team, has taken legal action against senior anchor Mubasher Luqman, filing a defamation lawsuit. This move comes in response to allegations made by Luqman, accusing Azam of involvement in match-fixing, which Azam vehemently denies.

According to sources familiar with the situation, Babar Azam initiated this legal challenge after careful consideration with his legal advisors. The lawsuit demands compensation of Rs 1 billion from Luqman, arguing that the accusations made by the anchor are not only baseless but also damaging to Azam’s reputation.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Mubasher Luqman alleged that Azam had received an Audi E-Tron as a gift from his brother, supposedly sourced from questionable bookies. Additionally, Luqman claimed Azam owned apartments in Australia and New Zealand acquired through dubious means.

These accusations surfaced following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the USA, where they faced early elimination from the tournament after losses to the USA and a narrow win over Ireland in New York.

Luqman’s Controversial Claims Stir Public Criticism

Luqman’s claims have sparked controversy and drawn sharp criticism from fans and analysts alike. The video accusing Azam and also criticizing former captain Shaheen Shah Afridi’s performance in the T20 World Cup has stirred significant public debate.

Many supporters of Pakistan cricket have called for an investigation by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) into these serious allegations. The backlash against the team has intensified due to their recent on-field struggles and these off-field controversies.

Babar Azam’s legal team has challenged Mubasher Luqman to substantiate his claims in court, indicating their confidence in refuting the allegations. Azam’s decision to pursue legal action underscores his commitment to defending his reputation and integrity amidst these challenging circumstances.
