Afghanistan’s spin wizard, Rashid Khan, achieved a historic milestone on Tuesday. He became fastest bowler to take 150 wickets in T20 international (T20I) matches, reaching this mark in just 92 games. This remarkable achievement adds another feather to his already impressive cap.
Rashid Khan’s feat is even more impressive when compared to other top bowlers. New Zealand’s Tim Southee is the only other player to have reached 150 T20I wickets, and he did so in 118 matches. This means Rashid is the fastest by a significant margin. Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is on the verge of joining this elite group, with 149 wickets in 129 matches.
The milestone came on a day of great success for the Afghanistan cricket team. Not only did Rashid Khan make history, but Afghanistan also reached the T20 World Cup semi-finals for the first time. They achieved this by defeating Bangladesh in a crucial Super 8 match. Rashid Khan’s exceptional performance was key to their victory, as he took four wickets for just 23 runs.

Semi-finals of T20 World Cup are now set. India, England, and South Africa had already secured their spots before Afghanistan’s match. With Afghanistan’s victory, semi-finals line-up is complete. On June 27, South Africa will face Afghanistan, while England will compete against India.
Rashid Khan’s achievement and Afghanistan’s progress in tournament are significant milestones for both the player and team. As Rashid continues to break records and lead his team to new heights, he cements his place as one of the greatest bowlers in T20I cricket history. Upcoming semi-final matches promise to be thrilling, with Afghanistan ready to take on best teams in the world.
