Seventeen Becomes First K-Pop Group to Perform at Glastonbury

Seventeen just crushed their performance at Glastonbury this year. They were the first K-Pop group ever to take the famous Pyramid Stage. It sounds like an amazing show, with a ton of energy from the band and the crowd.

Seventeen, a popular South Korean boy band, made history on Friday by becoming the first K-pop group to perform at the famous Glastonbury Festival in southern England. This festival is known for its traditional rock and hippie music, so Seventeen’s performance marked a big change.

The 13-member group took to the main Pyramid Stage, dressed in black, and delivered an energetic show. They danced in perfect sync and performed their hit songs like ‘HOT’, ‘Rock with you’, and ‘VERY NICE’. The crowd loved it, even though many of them hadn’t heard of Seventeen before. Loyal fans, known as “carats,” cheered from the front row.

After performing ‘SOS’, singer Joshua Hong shared a touching message: “Even though the language, country, and culture are all different, we can still connect as one through music.”

Even though the group drew a smaller crowd compared to other acts, those who watched couldn’t help but join in the fun. Kiera Finn, a 26-year-old from Liverpool, said, “It was really good, it was so much fun. The crowd was amazing … This is what Glastonbury is all about – everyone just having a great time.”

Seventeen’s appearance is part of a growing trend of K-pop bands, like BTS and Blackpink, performing at major Western festivals and gaining international fans. This year’s Glastonbury line-up also includes big names like Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA, and Shania Twain, showing the festival’s shift from its traditional roots.

This historic performance is sure to be a turning point for K-Pop’s presence at major music festivals worldwide. SEVENTEEN’s success paves the way for other Korean acts to reach new audiences and solidify K-Pop’s position as a major force in the global music scene.
