Pakistan’s star batsmen, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, held onto their positions in the latest ICC T20I rankings despite Pakistan’s recent struggles in the T20 World Cup. Babar is ranked fourth and Rizwan is ranked fifth. Moreover, the top two spots are occupied by Australia’s Travis Head and India’s Suryakumar Yadav.
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, two of Pakistan’s best cricket players, have held on to their high rankings in the latest ICC T20I rankings. Babar is ranked fourth with a rating of 755, and Rizwan is fifth with a rating of 746.
At the top of the T20I rankings is Australia’s Travis Head, followed by India’s Suryakumar Yadav in second place. India’s recent T20I series against Zimbabwe, which they won 4-1, helped their players improve in the rankings. Additionally, Indian captain Shubman Gill moved up 36 places to 37th after scoring 170 runs in five matches.
Other Indian players like Rohit Sharma (42nd) and Virat Kohli (51st) also made notable moves. Although Kohli recently retired from T20Is after winning the T20 World Cup 2024.
In the bowlers’ T20I rankings, Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani climbed 11 places to 44th after taking six wickets against India. Indian bowlers Washington Sundar (up 36 spots to 46th) and Mukesh Kumar (up 21 spots to 73rd) also improved their rankings.
Other Notable Ranking Updates
England’s Adil Rashid remains the number one T20I bowler, with South Africa’s Anrich Nortje and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga in second and third places, respectively.
In Test cricket, England’s players saw significant improvements in their rankings after a big win against the West Indies. England won by an innings and 114 runs at Lord’s, with several players moving up the rankings.
Harry Brook moved up three places to seventh, while Zak Crawley (up to 13th) and Ollie Pope (up to 29th) also improved their positions. Newcomers Jamie Smith and Gus Atkinson made impressive debuts, with Smith ranking 75th in batting and Atkinson 52nd in bowling after taking 12 wickets in his first match.
ICC issues these latest rankings on their website. However, despite Pakistan’s recent struggles, both Babar and Rizwan’s consistent batting performances have secured their positions among the top T20I batsmen in the world.
