Saudi Arabia’s Cable Car Project to Cave Of Hira

Saudi Arabia is planning to launch a cable car system that will transport visitors to the Cave of Hira, a significant religious site for Muslims. The cave is located in Jabal Al Nour, where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received his first revelation from Allah. The cable car system will provide a more comfortable and efficient way to reach this sacred location.

Saudi Arabia is making it easier for people to visit important religious sites in Makkah. A new cable car will soon connect Masjid Al Haram, the Grand Mosque, to the Cave of Hira, a place with great significance in Islam. Cave Hira is where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the first revelation of the Holy Quran over 1,400 years ago.

The project cable car promises to offer a smoother, more scenic journey to one of Islam’s most revered sites. Pilgrims and visitors alike will soon be able to enjoy breathtaking views and a more convenient trip to this historic location.

The cable car will cover a distance of four kilometers and rise about 600 meters above sea level. It will make the journey to the cave much easier, especially for the elderly and people with disabilities. This is a big improvement, as visitors previously had to climb steep, rocky terrain to reach the cave. Although a paved walkway with solid stairs was added in recent years.

More Developments In The Holy City

This new project is part of the larger Hira Cultural District, which will span 67,000 square meters. The project also includes the opening of three new museums in 2025. Apart from the Hira Cultural District, the Mount Thor Cultural District is another project in the region. It will be developed in parallel, making travel to Makkah more convenient and wholesome for pilgrims.

Previously, visiting the cave was challenging due to the mountain’s steep incline and rugged terrain. However, the recent inauguration of a paved road has made access easier. Fawaz Al-Muhrej, CEO of Samaya Investment Company, which is overseeing the project, confirmed that the cable car system is set to open in 2025 as final preparations are underway.

The cable car system is expected to be a significant addition to the religious tourism infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
