Pakistani actress Hania Aamir reacted to the controversy surrounding a deepfake video that recently went viral on social media. The AI-generated video falsely depicted Aamir in inappropriate attire, shocking her fans and leaving many confused. As the video circulated across social media platforms, many initially believed it to be real.
However, keen-eyed viewers quickly identified the video as a deepfake, a synthetic creation made using AI technology. Some social media users speculated that the man in the video was an Indian model who closely resembled Aamir, fueling further discussion.
As the video gained more attention, both traditional and social media outlets began debating the potential dangers of such content. In response, Aamir took to her Instagram to set the record straight. She posted on her Instagram story, expressing her alarm by saying, “These AI-created things are so scary. Can’t there be any law against this?” She further clarified, “These are not my videos, and anyone thinking they are is mistaken.”
Hania Aamir has established herself as a prominent actress in Pakistan, starring in popular dramas such as Janaan, Na Maloom Afraad 2, and Parwaaz Hai Junoon. On television, her well-known roles include serials like Titli, Phir Wohi Mohabbat, and Mere Humsafar. With 14.8 million followers on social media, Aamir has become a prime target for such deepfake content.
The situation escalated when an Indian fan, Anureet Sandhu, added to the controversy by using filters to make himself look like Aamir. Aamir’s stylist, Mavi Kiani, also came to her defense by resharing Aamir’s story and condemning those responsible. Kiani wrote, “This is horrible!! And yes, there should be accountability! Shame on people who do this for fun or thrills at others’ expense.”

Aamir’s fans strongly supported her, condemning the misuse of AI technologies. While acknowledging the positive uses of AI, they criticized its unethical application in creating misleading and harmful content.
