Punjab is taking action to ensure transparency by equipping its police officers with body cameras. Government is providing these cameras to officers in operations, investigation, and traffic wings to record all interactions with public. By using these cameras, government aims to increase accountability and improve the behavior of law enforcement officers during their duties.
CM Maryam Emphasizes Importance of Protecting Citizens’ Rights
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has stressed the importance of protecting citizens’ lives and property. She has made it clear that any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. To further improve police conduct, Punjab Home Department has not only introduced body cameras but also issued a strict ban on social media use among police officers while on duty.
By implementing bodycam program, Punjab government is taking significant steps to enhance professionalism in law enforcement. Police departments will monitor officers in real-time using the cameras, ensuring they focus on their responsibilities and treat the public with respect. Supervisors have instructed officers to concentrate on their duties instead of spending time on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook.

Authorities Strictly Prohibited Social Media Use
New policy also sets clear guidelines on social media use. Authorities strictly prohibit police personnel from uploading videos in uniform and require them to get permission from their district police officer (DPO) before engaging in any social media activity while on duty. Government will take disciplinary action against any officer who violates these rules.
Maryam Nawaz has also reiterated that these actions are necessary to uphold transparency and professionalism within the police force. She believes that by enforcing stricter measures, the government can safeguard the rights of citizens and promote effective law enforcement. This approach not only ensures greater accountability but also builds trust between the public and police.
Moreover, government expects this initiative to bring positive changes in how police officers interact with public. By focusing on their responsibilities and adhering to strict professional standards, officers can contribute to a safer, more secure Punjab. New policy reflects government’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that police force operates with integrity and transparency.
