Zomato’s CEO, Deepinder Goyal, recently took on the role of a food delivery agent to experience what his delivery staff go through firsthand. He rode around the streets of Gurugram, delivering food to customers. His wife, Grecia Munoz, now known as Gia Goyal, joined him on this journey. Both wore Zomato’s red uniforms as they made deliveries together.
Goyal shared his experience on Instagram, writing, “Went out to deliver orders a couple of days ago, teaming up with Grecia Munoz.” He also posted photos of them navigating delivery routes and interacting with customers. The post quickly gained traction, earning over 28,000 likes, while a reel of him delivering food gathered around 12,000 likes.
People Praised Couple’s Efforts
Many praised Goyal for his hands-on approach, with comments like “Down-to-earth” showing admiration for the couple’s effort. However, some users expressed skepticism, suggesting it was a publicity stunt. One user commented, “Just a PR stunt, try doing it for an entire month to understand the real challenges delivery agents face.”
Another user humorously noted, “Bro deliver to Old Gurugram area too rather than Cyber City areas,” referring to the differences between newer and older parts of the city.
Despite the mixed reactions, Goyal’s initiative highlighted the hard work of delivery personnel and demonstrated leadership that goes beyond the office. It also reflected his commitment to understanding every aspect of Zomato’s operations.
Deepinder Goyal co-founded Zomato in 2008, and under his leadership, the company has become a major player in the food delivery industry. As of October 2024, his net worth stands at $1.7 billion.
