Pakistani mountaineer Shehroze Kashif has made history by becoming the youngest climber from Pakistan to summit all 14 of the world’s highest peaks, known as the “8,000ers”. Kashif, 21, successfully summited Broad Peak (8,051 meters) on October 8, 2024, completing his remarkable feat.
In a historic feat, Pakistani mountaineer Shehroze Kashif has become the youngest climber to conquer all 14 peaks towering over 8,000 meters. The 22-year-old mountaineer completed this remarkable achievement by summiting Shishapangma, which stands at 8,027 meters, on October 9, 2024.
Nicknamed the “Broad Boy” after his first major climb of Broad Peak in 2019, Kashif is only the second Pakistani to complete this daunting challenge. He follows Sarbaz Khan, who was the first Pakistani to achieve this feat earlier this year.
Kashif’s journey began at just 17 when he successfully scaled Broad Peak, catapulting him into international mountaineering circles. In 2021, Kashif summited iconic peaks like Mount Everest, Manaslu, and K2. The following year, he continued to showcase his skills by conquering Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II. Last year, he added Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Cho Oyu to his impressive record.
Last year, Kashif attempted Shishapangma but was hindered by an accident that halted his climb. This year, overcoming both physical and mental challenges, he finally reached the summit, cementing his place in history. Had he succeeded last year, he would have been the youngest person in the world to complete all 14 eight-thousanders.
Dedication Never Fails
Speaking after his accomplishment, Kashif reflected on the difficulties he faced. He said, “I knew the risks were high, and the challenge was immense. But I stayed focused on the goal. Now, standing here, I realize this accomplishment isn’t just about climbing mountains; it’s about conquering fears, doubts, and limitations. It feels nothing short of a miracle.”
Shehroze’s success has been supported by the BARD Foundation, with its founder Abdul Razak Dawood expressing immense pride. “Shehroze has exceeded all expectations, making the entire nation proud. His journey is an inspiration, showing that with dedication and perseverance, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome.”
Kashif’s story is not only one of personal triumph but also a beacon of inspiration for young Pakistanis, proving that with determination, even the highest peaks can be conquered.
