Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz has established a seven-member committee to look into allegations of sexual assault involving a student at a college in Lahore. Committee is led by Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, who will oversee a thorough investigation of the incident.
Committee has 48 hours to complete its inquiry and present its findings to CM. This swift action follows widespread protests by students at the college after allegations of sexual assault surfaced on social media, sparking outrage.
During these protests, several clashes occurred between students, security personnel, and police, which resulted in injuries to both students and law enforcement officers. In response to chaos, authorities took quick steps to address the situation.
Interestingly, family of the alleged victim has denied claims of sexual assault. Girl’s father and uncle claim that she fell at home, causing a back injury that required her hospitalization in intensive care unit.
Police Arrested Security Guard
Despite family’s denial, police arrested a security guard from the college accused of assaulting the student. The guard fled the scene after the incident but was captured in Sialkot following multiple police raids. Law enforcement officials have confirmed the arrest but have not yet provided further details regarding ongoing investigation.

Victim, identified as a resident of Sheikhupura, is a first-year student at Gaddafi Stadium Hali Road branch of Punjab College. Authorities are ensuring that the student and her family receive proper support while investigation continues.
