Pakistan Makes History at Asian Open Taekwondo Championship

Pakistan made history at the Asian Open Taekwondo Championship by securing a remarkable haul of 8 medals. This impressive achievement showcases the country’s rising talent in the sport. On behalf of the nation, we wish all the champions congratulations.

In a groundbreaking achievement, Pakistan’s Taekwondo team made history at the 6th Asian Open Khyurogi Taekwondo Championship, held in Indonesia. The team brought home an impressive haul of eight medals—three gold, three silver, and two bronze. This tally makes it the first time both male and female athletes from Pakistan have achieved such success at an international taekwondo event.

The tournament, held from October 14 to 17, saw intense competition. However, Pakistan emerged as the top team, surpassing powerhouses like Kazakhstan and Malaysia, who finished second and third, respectively. Pakistan’s dominant performance earned them the prestigious title of “Best Team” by the Asian Taekwondo Union, a testament to the nation’s growing strength in the sport.

The standout athlete of the tournament was Shahzeb Khan. He was named the “Best Athlete” for his remarkable performance in the -54 kg category, clinching gold for his country. Haroon Khan, another star of the event. He seamlessly secured the gold medal in the men’s -58 kg final after defeating fellow Pakistani competitor Abubakar Siddique in a thrilling match that ended with scores of 6-4 and 9-7.

On the women’s side, Manisha Ali showcased her dominance in the +73 kg category. She defeated Indonesia’s Parmata Sri with ease, scoring 4-1 and 8-2, and adding another gold to Pakistan’s tally.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of the athletes and the relentless efforts of their coaches. Master Yousuf Karami, who was awarded “Best Coach,” played a pivotal role in preparing the team for this monumental success. Lt. Col. (Retd) Raja Wasim Ahmed, President of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, also extended heartfelt congratulations to the team. He also emphasized that this victory marks a new era for taekwondo in Pakistan.

This historic win not only brings pride to the nation but also sets a high standard for future competitions. It also signals that Pakistan is now a force to be reckoned with in the world of taekwondo.
