Abdul Hannan and his team have recently warned fans about the misuse of his Spotify and Apple Music accounts. It appears that someone has been uploading “fake” music under his name, potentially misleading listeners and damaging his reputation. Hannan’s team is currently working to address the issue with Spotify and Apple Music.
Scammers have reportedly misused Pakistani singer Abdul Hannan’s Spotify and Apple Music accounts to upload fake or AI-generated music. Abdul Hannan and his team shared a warning on Instagram, urging fans not to stream these unauthorized tracks.
Hannan reposted the statement on his Instagram story and explained that someone had uploaded fake music to his streaming profiles without his permission. It stated, “Scammers are trying to profit from unauthorized streams, affecting many artists. We’re aware of the issue and working to resolve it quickly.”
The team requests fans to refrain from streaming these unauthorized songs. They warned, “Any new music from Hannan will be announced on his official Instagram account.” They appealed to streaming services such as Spotify to address the issue promptly.
Fans noticed an unfamiliar song titled Akha Cilam Cilam Valo on Hannan’s Spotify profile. The artist never announced or released this track, which features unrelated artwork.
This isn’t the first time Hannan has faced online impersonation. Earlier this year, he took to Instagram to warn fans about a scammer pretending to be him on WhatsApp. He urged fans to be cautious and avoid responding to any suspicious messages or requests for meetups.
AI is a Blessing Or Curse?
Music scams like this are not new. With the rise of AI tools, scammers can easily create music mimicking an artist’s style and upload it through third-party distributors. These tracks can confuse listeners, tarnish an artist’s reputation, and divert streaming royalties to scammers.
In December 2020, Dua Lipa and Lana Del Rey had their Spotify pages defaced by a hacker who posted messages about Donald Trump and Taylor Swift. The hacker replaced their biographies and profile photos.
Streaming platforms are being urged to strengthen their verification processes to protect artists and ensure fans get genuine content. Hannan’s team is currently working to address the issue with Spotify and Apple Music, and they are urging fans to report any fake music they encounter on these platforms.
