Nasir Adeeb, a well-known Pakistani writer and filmmaker, recently faced backlash for his comments about actress Reema Khan during a podcast interview. He claimed to have met her in Lahore’s historic red-light district, Heeramandi while scouting for talent for a film project.
Writer Nasir Adeeb stirred up a storm recently with controversial remarks about renowned actress Reema Khan. During a podcast, Adeeb claimed he first met Reema in Lahore’s Heeramandi, a red-light district, while scouting for actors. He alleged he rejected her for a role, stating she lacked emotive eyes and was “made of plastic.” The comments didn’t sit well with fans or celebrities, sparking a wave of criticism.

Following the uproar, Adeeb appeared on the same podcast to apologize, admitting his mistake in spreading unverified information. “I apologize to Reema for spreading this information without ascertaining the facts. After this happened I asked my friend to Google her, and I knew she was Pakhtun, but then I discovered she’s part of the Qizilbash family.”
He shared that after some research, he learned about Reema’s background, including her struggles with poverty and her real name, Samina. Adeeb’s remarks not only reignited past rumors but also highlighted a troubling trend of podcasts becoming platforms for reckless statements.
Reema Khan, in true queenly fashion, responded indirectly on Instagram. Sharing wisdom-laden words inspired by poet Jaun Elia, she emphasized that life, sustenance, and respect are powers held only by God. “If humans controlled these, they would starve and dishonor everyone but themselves,” she wrote, subtly addressing Adeeb’s remarks. Her fans praised her for handling the situation with elegance and grace.
Celebrities weren’t as forgiving. Fahad Mustafa called out the “nonsense” on problematic podcasts, urging for action against individuals who tarnish others’ reputations. Rabia Anum Obaid applauded Reema’s journey and slammed people who try to undermine women. Meanwhile, veteran actor Bushra Ansari didn’t mince words, criticizing Adeeb for digging up the past to stay relevant. She described such behavior as “disgusting” and questioned its morality.
Reema Khan, adored for her talent and grace, continues to rise above such controversies. Her response reminds us that true dignity lies in kindness and wisdom, not in petty back-and-forths. Adeeb’s misstep has become a cautionary tale about respecting boundaries—especially in an industry that thrives on reputation.
