The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Klaasen breached Article 2.2. This code of conduct prohibits the abuse of cricket equipment, ground fittings, or other fixtures during international matches. As a result, he was fined 15% of his match fee and had one demerit point added to his disciplinary record. Match Referee Richie Richardson imposed the penalty.

Despite Klaasen’s heroic efforts, South Africa fell 81 runs short of the challenging target of 330 set by Pakistan. Klaasen remained the hosts’ top performer, fighting till the 43rd over as the last wicket to fall.
