The four legends inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame 2024 are Inzamam-ul-Haq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, and Mushtaq Mohammad. These four cricketers were chosen by a distinguished panel, including former captains, cricketers, and journalists. They join a list of other Pakistani cricketing legends in the PCB Hall of Fame.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has inducted four legendary cricketers—Inzamam-ul-Haq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Mohammad, and Saeed Anwar—into the PCB Hall of Fame 2024. This honor celebrates their outstanding contributions to Pakistan’s cricketing history.
This year’s selection is unique, with four inductees instead of the usual two, as no additions were made in 2023. These cricketing icons join an elite group of players like Abdul Qadir, Hanif Mohammad, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis, who are already part of the Hall of Fame.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the inductees, highlighting their significant impact on Pakistan cricket. “Their talent, leadership, and commitment have elevated Pakistan cricket and inspired future generations,” he said.
Celebrating Cricketing Giants
Inzamam-ul-Haq, a cornerstone of Pakistan cricket from 1991 to 2007, was part of the 1992 World Cup-winning team. Known for his calm demeanor and match-winning abilities, Inzamam remains Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in ODIs and one of the top Test performers.
Misbah-ul-Haq led Pakistan to the top of the ICC Test rankings in 2016 and achieved a historic Test series victory in the Caribbean. Representing Pakistan from 2001 to 2017, Misbah is celebrated for his resilience and leadership during challenging times.
Mushtaq Mohammad, who played from 1959 to 1979, is remembered as a pioneering captain who led Pakistan to its first Test win in Australia in 1977. His contributions extended to coaching, guiding Pakistan to the final of the 1999 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Saeed Anwar, renowned for his elegant batting style, played from 1989 to 2003. With 31 centuries and 68 half-centuries, he excelled against the world’s top bowlers, leaving an indelible mark on Pakistan cricket.
Inspiring Future Generations
The inductees expressed their gratitude for this recognition. Inzamam called it a “special honor,” while Misbah described it as “humbling“. Saeed Anwar shared his pride in joining the ranks of his childhood heroes. Moreover, Mushtaq Mohammad reflected on the honor as a testament to a lifelong passion for cricket.
The formal induction ceremony, set to take place later this year, will celebrate these legends’ incredible careers and contributions. Through this recognition, the PCB continues to honor Pakistan’s cricketing heritage while inspiring young players to carry forward the legacy.
