The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has signed an agreement with the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) to send astronauts to the Tiangong space station. This marks a major milestone in the country’s space journey.
The signing ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan. In the presence of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), and Muhammad Yousuf Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), signed the agreement.
Training Of First Astronauts in China
Under this agreement, two Pakistani astronauts will receive specialized training at the Astronaut Center of China. One of them is a scientific payload specialist. He will be responsible for conducting advanced research aboard the China Space Station (CSS). The selection process will be completed by 2026, with the first astronaut expected to participate in a future space mission.
Scientific Research in Space
The selected astronaut will engage in experiments across various fields, including medical sciences, aerospace technology, physics, space radiation, ecology, and astronomy. The China Space Station features cutting-edge facilities, enabling scientists to conduct groundbreaking research that could benefit life on Earth.

Dr. Lin Xiqiang, Deputy Director of CMSA, emphasized that this collaboration reflects the strong partnership between Pakistan and China. He stated that Pakistan’s participation in the China Space Station program will promote international cooperation in peaceful space exploration.
SUPARCO Chairman Mohammad Yousuf Khan also praised the agreement, encouraging young scientists, engineers, and researchers to take an active role in Pakistan’s space journey. He highlighted that this mission will elevate Pakistan’s position in the global space community.
