CBI Closes Sushant Singh Rajput Case After 4 Years

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has closed its investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, after four years. The CBI’s findings indicate no foul play, confirming the actor’s death as a suicide. Actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family have been cleared of all allegations. The closure concludes a long and heavily scrutinized investigation.

After nearly four years of investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially closed its inquiry into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The agency confirmed there was no foul play, ruling his death as suicide and clearing actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family of all allegations.

CBI Investigation Details and Findings

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. The case led to widespread speculation, with allegations of professional pressure and financial misconduct surfacing. His father, K K Singh, accused Rhea Chakraborty of pushing the actor towards suicide and misusing his finances. Chakraborty, in response, filed a case against Rajput’s sister and a doctor for allegedly providing him with psychiatric drugs without proper consultation.

The CBI took over the case in August 2020 and conducted a detailed probe. The investigation involved forensic analysis, technical data from international sources, and medical opinions. AIIMS Delhi’s forensic team reviewed the post-mortem reports and concluded that Rajput died due to hanging, ruling out any physical struggle or external injury.

Legal Closure and Reactions

The agency filed its closure report in a Mumbai court, officially concluding the case. A court hearing is scheduled for April 8 to review the findings.

Reacting to the development, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, expressed relief and criticized the misinformation spread during the investigation. He pointed out that Chakraborty spent nearly a month in jail due to allegations that were later dismissed.

Political And Public Response

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut called out the BJP, accusing the party of using the case for political gain. He stated that continuous efforts to link politicians to the case, despite repeated conclusions of suicide, were misleading.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court is set to hear a petition related to Disha Salian’s case on April 2. Salian, Rajput’s former manager, reportedly died by suicide just days before Rajput’s death. Her father has filed a case seeking further investigation.

With the CBI’s final report ruling out external involvement, discussions around mental health challenges in the entertainment industry have resurfaced. Supporters of Rajput continue to express their sorrow, while others emphasize the need for responsible reporting in sensitive cases.
