Former PM and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday expressed “fear” over discussions of bringing in a technocrat government in the country. Imran Khan says he do not see fresh elections happening anytime soon. Noted that “people pulling the strings behind the scenes needed to agree” rather than the government holding the polls.
The PTI chief’s remarks came after former FBR chairman Shabbar Zaidi in an interview maintained that talks were underway regarding the installation of a “caretaker government”. Comprising experts that could replace the existing PML-N coalition setup given the current economic turmoil.

PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry expressed a similar fear in his tweet. Saying the PTI will not accept the move of forming a technocrat government in the country.
The party will resist it. He said the idea of replacing the government with a technocratic set-up was ‘foolish’. Adding that the political crisis was more severe than economic turmoil. “Such schemes were being designed at the cost of the country’s interests just to stop Imran Khan from regaining power,” he added. Meanwhile, the former prime minister told the delegation that if any ‘political engineering’ was involved in the upcoming general elections. The results would not be good for the country.

Talking to senior journalists on Wednesday. Imran Khan said that he was not in contact with the establishment at the moment. “Former COAS Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa did great injustice to this country. Our government had good working relations with him but the corruption of politicians was of no substance to him,” the PTI chief added.
The former premier said the new COAS General Asim Munir has said that they will remain neutral. However, he added that the biggest test of his neutrality would be holding elections within three months of the dissolution of KP and Punjab assemblies.
