PTI Chairman Imran Khan was found guilty of illegally using a gift for official purposes and not declaring it to the tax authorities.

The case relates to the alleged misuse of gifts received from the country’s top officials. Khan received gifts during his tenure as Prime Minister from 2018 to 2019. It’s worth is more than Rs140 million.
Imran Khan denied any wrongdoing and criticized the verdict. He said it was a political vendetta by the ruling party.
In Additional, Sessions Judge Dilawar mentioned in his judgement. “Charges of misdeclaration of assets have been proven against PTI chairman.”
Judge Dilawar rejected Imran Khan’s petition seeking inadmissibility of the case.
Further, Judge Dilawar sentenced Imran Khan to three-year imprisonment. He issued an arrest warrant against him and a fine of Rs100,000.
A Pakistani high court set aside a lower court’s verdict and requested a rehearsal of a corruption case against former prime minister Khan.
The Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified the former prime minister. Imran Khan, for making false statements about gifts received from foreign dignitaries. The high court overturned the trial court’s ruling and ordered a re-hearing of the case within seven days.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq referred the matter back to the trial court. He said to re-examine jurisdiction and any procedural lapses in filing the complaint.
The court adjourned the hearing multiple times and also reserved the verdict after no defense team appeared. The judge announced the verdict. So, the PTI chief was found guilty of corrupt practices and sentenced to three years in jail.
Toshakhana Case
The value of the gifts was Rs107 million, while the prosecution had presented the evidence. Khan accepted gifts, which included a watch, cufflinks, a watch and a ring, Rolex watches, others, he said adding that gifts for 2018-19 were taken by paying 20 per cent.
The Toshakhana rules allow government officials to keep low-value gifts, while extravagant items require a reduced fee.
The scandal began with allegations that former Prime Minister Khan misused his premiership to buy and sell gifts worth Rs140 million.
