Punjab Declares Saturday as Weekly Holiday in Govt Schools

Punjab government has decided that all govt schools in the province will now be closed every Saturday. This change is intended to help teachers by reducing their workload and giving them more opportunities for professional development.

Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced this new policy, stating that Saturdays will be dedicated to training sessions for teachers. This move aims to improve teaching quality and allow teachers to focus on developing better lesson plans and teaching methods.

Minister Hayat emphasized that this decision is part of a broader effort to ease the heavy responsibilities on teachers in government schools. He acknowledged that teachers often have a lot of work to do and reducing their workload is important.

Starting immediately, schools will operate from Monday to Friday, with Saturdays being reserved exclusively for teacher training. Consequently, this schedule change is expected to give teachers time they need to enhance their skills and prepare for classes without usual teaching demands.
