Reports suggest Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce is finally nearing its end after eight years. The former couple, once known as “Brangelina,” sent shockwaves through the entertainment world when Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. While they achieved single status in 2019, complex issues, including custody arrangements and property division, reportedly remained unresolved.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are still working on finalizing their divorce, nearly eight years after they separated. Angelina filed for divorce in September 2016, and their youngest kids are about to turn 16 this week.
The couple, who became famous for their roles in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and “By the Sea,” have six children: Maddox (22), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16).
A source told PEOPLE that both sides are still talking about the divorce terms, but it’s not finished yet. Even though they were declared legally single in 2019, many details still need to be sorted out.
Brad, who is 60, has little contact with his adult children but does have visitation rights for the younger ones. His busy filming schedule in the UK has made it hard for him to spend much time with them recently.
Angelina, who is 49, is happy and focused on her children and work. She is set to play Maria Callas in an upcoming biopic and has directed a film starring Salma Hayek-Pinault.
Apart from the divorce, Brad and Angelina are also in a legal dispute over a French winery they once owned together. Brad sued Angelina for selling her shares without his consent, which he claims broke an agreement between them. Angelina’s lawyer hopes this case will end soon so the family can heal.
In 2017, Brad mentioned that both he and Angelina were trying their best to work things out, stating that no one truly wins in court. Despite the stress from ongoing custody issues and other disputes, Brad is trying to move on with his life.
Officials haven’t disclosed the reasons behind the delay, but past reports hint at disagreements over child custody and the fate of Château Miraval, a French vineyard the former couple co-owned.
Despite the reported progress, both Pitt and Jolie’s representatives haven’t commented on the specifics of the ongoing negotiations.
