Lahore is experiencing a significant spell of monsoon rains, with more rain expected to continue until August 4. The ongoing rainfall has already brought a refreshing change to the weather, making it cooler and more comfortable compared to the usual summer heat.
The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has reported some issues caused by the heavy rains, including power outages in different parts of the city. The rainfall has led to water accumulating in various streets and neighborhoods, causing temporary inconvenience for residents.
According to weather experts, the monsoon season is expected to keep Lahore under cloudy skies with intermittent rain throughout the week. Senior Meteorologist Zahid Hussain confirmed that the weather would remain unsettled, providing a mix of relief from the heat and potential challenges for daily life.
On Monday morning, Lahore experienced light drizzle, with temperatures starting at around 28 degrees Celsius. The temperature is anticipated to rise to a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius during the day.
Impact of Monsoon
The monsoon rains have affected more than just Lahore. Other Pakistani cities are feeling the impact. In Abbottabad, the weather is now more pleasant because of the rain. However, there are warnings about possible canal flooding. Residents should avoid urban drains and landslide-prone areas.
In Gujrat and Attock, heavy rainfall has made the weather more bearable. Islamabad has also seen a temperature drop, making it more comfortable.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir has had continuous rain since last night, causing rising water levels in rivers and canals. The weather in Muzaffarabad and nearby areas is cooler and more pleasant. More rain is expected in the coming days.
