Approximately 20,000 Muslims are anticipated to attend the 61st Islamic Society of North America ISNA Convention in Dallas. This annual gathering is a significant event for the Muslim community in North America. The organization provides a platform for spiritual, educational, and social engagement. In addition, it is the largest gathering of Muslims in the United States.
The 61st annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is underway at the Anatole Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, with around 20,000 Muslims expected to attend. This marks the largest gathering of Muslims in the United States and the first time ISNA has held this event in Dallas in its 61-year history.
The convention began on Friday with a joint press conference led by ISNA’s central president and other officials. They announced that over 150 prominent speakers, including leaders from various faiths, would be addressing the conference. The event is designed to bring people of different faiths together under the theme of peace and goodwill.
In addition to the discussions and interfaith receptions, the convention offers a variety of activities. The ISNA Bazaar, featuring over 350 stalls, is one of the highlights. Attendees can also enjoy sports, entertainment programs, and cultural performances, including Qawwali sessions and live music.
Following the Friday prayers, the opening ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, community leaders, and representatives from different religions. ISNA President Safaa Zarzour emphasized that the convention is not just for Muslims but is an event for all Americans. He also highlights the importance of unity and social change through religious collaboration.
“It serves as an excellent mean of representation for individuals from various faiths, their families, businesses, and volunteer organisations,” Safaa Zarzour said.
The convention aims to address issues faced by the Muslim community in North America and advocate for solutions to international concerns. It also includes the situations in Palestine, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), and Sudan.
ISNA is the oldest and largest Muslim organization in the U.S. and Canada. It has been working for the welfare of Muslims since its founding in 1963. This year’s convention promises to be a powerful platform for dialogue, cooperation, and positive change.
