The leaders from China, Russia, and more will gather for the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. The SCO summit, starting on Wednesday, will see participation from top officials of some of the world’s most powerful nations.
Among the key attendees are Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Both of these are expected to play central roles in discussions that will focus on regional security, economic cooperation, and strengthening bilateral ties. Prime Minister Li Qiang’s visit marks his first to Pakistan in over a decade. This visit is seen as an important step in deepening relations between the two countries. Particularly through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative.
To ensure the safety of all participants, strict security measures have been put in place throughout Islamabad and its neighboring city, Rawalpindi. Moreover, the Pakistan Army, along with police and paramilitary forces, has been deployed across the capital. Key areas, including business centers, wedding halls, and busy roads, have been closed from October 12 to 16. Traffic restrictions have been imposed along with the suspension of Metro bus services during the summit.
