West Indies Cricket Team Arrive in Pakistan After 18 Years

The West Indies cricket team has arrived in Pakistan for a two-match Test series, marking their first Test tour to the country in 18 years. The team landed in Islamabad on Monday and will play a three-day practice match against Pakistan Shaheens before the first Test on January 17. The second Test will be played on January 25.

In a historic moment for cricket, the West Indies cricket team has arrived in Pakistan to play a two-match Test series after an 18-year gap. The team landed in Islamabad on January 6, 2025, traveling from Dubai via flight EK 612.

The two-match series will be held at the Multan Cricket Stadium later this month. To prepare for the games, the West Indies will play a three-day practice match against the Pakistan Shaheens, starting January 10.

Both teams are gearing up for the competition with intensive training sessions scheduled in Islamabad. The Pakistan team begins its preparations at the Islamabad Club on January 7. Meanwhile, the visitors will undergo two days of practice on January 8 and 9.

This marks the West Indies’ first Test series in Pakistan since their 2006 tour, making it a significant event for cricket fans. Although the West Indies have toured Pakistan three times since 2018, those matches were limited to white-ball cricket.

The two cricketing nations have faced each other in 54 Test matches over the years. Pakistan holds the upper hand with 21 victories, while the West Indies have won 18 matches, and 15 games ended in draws. Their last Test series in 2021, played in the Caribbean, resulted in a 1-1 draw.
