Rachin Ravindra has predicted that New Zealand and Australia will reach the final ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. Ravindra also acknowledged the strength of other teams, such as India and Pakistan. However, he ultimately backed the Trans-Tasman rivals to face off in the final.
New Zealand’s talented all-rounder, Rachin Ravindra, has shared his predictions for the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is set to take place in Pakistan and Dubai from February 19 to March 9. Moreover, it also marks the return of the prestigious competition after an eight-year gap.
In an exclusive interview, Ravindra expressed confidence in New Zealand and Australia making it to the final. He praised both teams for their consistent performances on the global stage. Australia, the defending champions of the ODI World Cup, and New Zealand, known for their resilience in ICC tournaments, are Ravindra’s picks for the ultimate clash on March 9.
“It’s always hard to predict, but as a New Zealander, I hope we’re in the final. Australia is a strong contender, excelling across formats. Hopefully, it’ll be a Trans-Tasman derby,” said Ravindra.
The 25-year-old left-hander, who was a standout performer in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 with over 500 runs, is excited to represent his nation again. Ravindra’s career has seen him amass 945 runs and take 18 wickets in 28 ODIs, showcasing his all-round capabilities.
Tournament’s Itinerary
The Champions Trophy’s unique knockout-style format adds to the excitement, with each game carrying immense importance. Eight teams, divided into two groups, will compete in 15 matches across Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai. Group A includes Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B features Afghanistan, South Africa, England, and Australia.
The tournament will kick off with hosts Pakistan taking on New Zealand in the opening match on February 19 in Karachi.
Ravindra praised the high-stakes format, saying, “Every game has context, which makes it super exciting. Players are motivated to give their best knowing every match is crucial.”
While Ravindra didn’t name hosts Pakistan or world number one India as finalists, his hopes for a thrilling Trans-Tasman derby have added to the buzz surrounding the tournament. Cricket fans worldwide eagerly await the return of the Champions Trophy, promising intense action and memorable moments.
