Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Summons Due To ‘India’s Got Latent’

Ranveer Allahbadia made a highly inappropriate and offensive comment during an episode of “India’s Got Latent,” a show hosted by comedian Samay Raina. The remark was widely criticized for being vulgar and disrespectful. Moreover, Allahbadia apologizes, acknowledging his “lapse of judgment” and stating that comedy is not his forte.

Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as ‘BeerBiceps,’ is facing legal trouble and political backlash over controversial remarks made on the YouTube roast show India’s Got Latent. The issue has now reached Parliament, with calls for stricter regulations on online content.

Key Developments:

A parliamentary panel on Information Technology is considering summoning Allahbadia after complaints from several Members of Parliament (MPs). FIRs have been registered in Assam and Mumbai against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, influencer Apoorva Makhija, and others for promoting obscenity. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed police action against the group. The NCW summoned the group involved in the show to a hearing on February 17th, 2025, taking “serious note of the vulgar and offensive remarks.”

The controversy started when a short clip from the show went viral, where Allahbadia asked a contestant an inappropriate question related to family relationships. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi and other leaders criticized the remarks, urging stricter content moderation. Officers visited Allahbadia’s residence for inquiries, though no formal notice was issued.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that freedom of speech has limits, and any violation would face consequences.

Following the controversy, the episode was taken down after government intervention. The podcaster issued a public apology, admitting his lapse in judgment. “Comedy is not my forte. My comment was inappropriate and not even funny. I am here to say sorry,” he said in a video message.

Additionally, The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) called for an immediate ban on the show and legal action against those involved. The incident has reignited the debate on responsible content creation, with many urging influencers to maintain ethical standards.

What’s Next?

However, with legal proceedings underway and the parliamentary panel considering action, the controversy is far from over. The case raises critical questions about content regulation, influencer responsibility, and freedom of expression in India’s digital landscape.
