Heavy rainfall swept across various parts of country on Thursday, bringing a significant drop in temperature and a refreshing change in atmosphere. Cities in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan witnessed light to heavy showers, much to the delight of residents.
Punjab Welcomes a Cool Spell
Several cities in Punjab, including Lahore, Mianwali, Attock, Chakwal, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, and Gujrat, experienced heavy downpours. Sudden showers caused temperatures to drop, and intermittent drizzles continued throughout the day. Residents welcomed cool breeze, enjoying a much-needed respite from previous warm weather.
In Phool Nagar, rain persisted since morning, accompanied by strong winds that further enhanced the cold. However, power supply disruptions were reported in several areas due to showers. Meanwhile, in Nankana Sahib, strong, chilly winds and heavy showers not only lowered temperatures but also proved beneficial for local wheat crops. Farmers expressed optimism for a promising yield this season.
Ferozwala experienced intermittent heavy rain, which further cooled the region. As soon as rain began, power outages occurred due to tripped feeders. Similarly, Malakwal witnessed both light and heavy showers, with electricity supply disruptions reported in multiple locations.
Balochistan Faces Heavy Rainfall and Challenges
Quetta and surrounding areas received heavy rainfall, submerging low-lying areas and turning streets into water-filled pathways. City’s inadequate drainage system failed to cope with sudden downpour, leading to major difficulties for residents. One local remarked, “The poor sewage system has made the situation worse, and we are struggling to manage.”
Provincial government faced public criticism, with residents demanding immediate improvements. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned that Quetta and other regions in Balochistan would continue to experience heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and strong winds.
Mastung, Kohlu, and Jhal Magsi also received rainfall, intensifying cold in the province.

Khairpur and surrounding areas in Sindh experienced continuous rainfall, transforming dry climate into a cool and calming atmosphere. Light showers in Pir Goth, Priyalobanara, and Baber Lo caused temperatures to drop significantly, while power cuts affected several localities.
