Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai ties the knot

Malala Yousafzai, an activist for women’s rights and education, married in Birmingham. The activist shared photos of the small ceremony on her Twitter account

Human rights and female education activist, Malala Yousafzai tied the knot on November 9. The activist announced the news of her marriage on Twitter. “Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life” she wrote.

The marriage was a Nikah ceremony that took place at Malala’s home in Birmingham, England. The ceremony was a small one, with only family members in it. Malala while announcing the marriage with Asser said that they both are excited for their life together. In her Tweet, Malala shared some beautiful photographs with Asser.

Malala, who since the age of 11-12 has been vocal for women rights, got shot at the age of 15. Her story of fighting for women rights in Swat, then gained international attention. Malala soon became a prominent social figure. She then won the Nobel Prize for her contribution to women rights and activism. Now 24, the brave activist has graduated from the Oxford University and has written a best seller named ‘I am Malala’.

Upon Malala’s announcement of marriage, a massive number of people including politicians, celebrities and journalists went onto congratulate her. Justin Trudeau, Priyanka Chopra, Lilly Singh and Reese Witherspoon are some of the prominent one’s on the list.

Details about Malala’s husband

Soon after Malala announced the news, a large number of people started to find more about her husband Asser Malik. Fans through Asser’s LinkedIn profile found out that he is the General Manager High Performance at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Asser has graduated in economics and political science from (Lahore University of Management Sciences) LUMS.

Asser is known as an entrepreneur that has done a lot of work in the sports industry. He is also responsible for bringing world’s largest amateur cricket league to Pakistan and has worked with a number of brands.
