Nonetheless, the opposition’s motion was not accepted by the assembly secretariat. As a candidate for Punjab chief, Speaker Elahi was alleged by the PML-N to have violated assembly rules and influenced PA affairs despite possessing no jurisdiction.
Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari had been accused of no-trust by the PTI for withdrawing the order delaying today’s PA session until April 16.
Insha’Allah, I will attend the Punjab Assembly ijlaas at 7 to support Hamza, who has the majority. “Marium,” she wrote on her official Twitter.
Illegal act
Punjab Assembly‘s spokesperson, however, called holding the symbolic session “illegal.”
A no-trust motion against the deputy speaker means he is not eligible to hold the session,” he added.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said that the Constitution is currently being violated in Pakistan’s largest province following the demise of the National Assembly. He added that the people’s representatives are being locked up and that the Constitution has been trampled on.
