In the high profile kidnapping case, Dua Zahra’s husband Zaheer Ahmed approached the Sindh High Court on Friday to restore his bank accounts and Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). After mysteriously disappearing from Karachi, Dua made headlines across the country, but later revealed she had run away from home to marry 21-year-old Zaheer Ahmed.
Shabbir and Zaheer filed a petition seeking immediate hearing, which was accepted by the court. Justice Iqbal Kalhoro would preside over a two-member bench hearing the petition.
During their petition, the accused claimed they were facing trial in Karachi and were faced with serious security threats while appearing in court. They asked the Sindh home department and police inspector general for protection.
Over the non-recovery of Dua Zahra, the SHC had ordered the authorities to block the CNICs and bank accounts of the accused.
In an effort to gain custody of the teenager, the family has filed multiple lawsuits in court, claiming that Zaheer kidnapped her because she was a minor and could not get married.

Once again, Zaheer Ahmad has escaped from custody
Earlier this week, the Karachi Sessions Court granted interim bail to both Zaheer Ahmed and his brother Shabbir, two of the main suspects in the kidnapping of Dua Zahra.
There has been an extension of interim bail for the brothers until the 17th of August. A pre-arrest bail was granted to Zaheer and his brother on July 21, as long as a surety of Rs100,000 could be provided as a guarantee in case of arrest.
In order to confirm or reject their interim bail, a decision was to be made on July 26 about whether or not they should join the investigation. After the hearing date, the bail was extended, and the brothers will appear in court today to answer their bail extensions.
