Bangladesh to Issue New Currency Notes Without Sheikh Mujib’s Image

The Bangladesh government has decided to issue new currency notes that will no longer feature the image of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of the country and father of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This move aims to remove traces of Sheikh Hasina’s administration. Credible diplomatic sources revealed that the interim government plans to redesign several denominations, starting with the 20, 100, 500, and 1,000 Takka notes. These new notes will not include Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s image, marking a major shift from the current designs that prominently display his likeness.
