Bulgaria & Romania Took Their Final Step to Enter Schengen Area
The European Council, under the leadership of its Spanish presidency, announced its decision to expand the Schengen area to include Bulgaria and Romania.
As per a statement issued by the European Commission, controls on air and sea borders are set to be lifted starting in the initial months of 2024. Additionally, discussions regarding lifting controls on land orders will continue this year. The European Commission expressed its belief that the enlargement of the Schengen area will enhance the European Union’s strength within its borders and on global platforms. The commission warmly welcomed the inclusion of Bulgaria and Romania in this area.
